Hey guys... I hope Santa was good and you all have something new to play with (and show off) lol... Our indoor has been a great success so far this year and I really enjoyed the very nice piece in the MAAC newsletter... Great Job Al...

Now that I put a few warm fuzzies out there, here comes the bad news. Over the Christmas break, our school had a water main break. As a result of this, the gym area and surrounding classrooms suffered some water damage. They are working hard to getting things back to normal, but asked everyone to stay off the gym floor till it has had time to dry properly. Long story short. No indoor flying this week. We will resume on January 16th 2014.

My Fellow Indoor Aviators

As indicated in my earlier post, there was some flooding at HERH over the break that cancelled our January 9th indoor flying night. As hoped, we were to resume flying on Jan 16th once the floors have dried. Sadly this will not be the case as I was told that the HERH gym will be closed indefinitely to all activities (even sports) due to the damage of the floor caused by the water. Of course my response was “I don’t want the floor, I want the air space”. Some found this funnier than others. That being said, I am currently looking at a few options for flying sites and times that may suit our needs. I will post in a day or so of my findings and what options are available to us.

I am also open to suggestions or options from our membership that we could explore/discuss as it is much too early to end our indoor flying season.

Indoor flying update... Here's what I got so far... I've been in contact with a couple places for us for indoor flying... First I have been talking to the folks at Elmsdale Elementary who have Monday evenings available from 7 to 9 pm at the same cost as it was at HERH... This school is located near the Strides gym in Elmsdale... I would still need approval from the school admin before we move forward on this site, however looking good... Second is a gym that is located in my home community of Indian Brook... This is located around 10 kms away from HERH and the days available for this site would be on Saturday mornings into early afternoon as it is used for wellness programs in the evenings... Please note that I would only be able to have this site available on a bi-weekly basis as I have other commitments... Some of us have flown at this site a couple years back during the Christmas break...

Feedback would be greatly appreciated...
