Received a very special set of wings this morning from Rae Coyle following the successful maiden of his 90- inch mosquito.
It took three trips to the MAST field in Truro for this to happen. First time out, the tail wheel would not stay centered and all she would do was 10 foot circles to the left.
second time out, although Rae had worked on the tail wheel, the same problem. no flying that day.
third time lucky this morning. Still some serious left swing problems and the tail wheel was now working fine. That led us to check other things. Both motors tached right on at 8200 rpm. So at the suggestion of several people there Rae pulled both motors and added some washers behind the motor mounts for quite a bit of added right thrust.
Now she still had a slight left drift tendency, but it was controllable and I lifted her off the field. A few clicks of left trim and she was flying perfectly with no bad habits. Easily flown!
and the e-motors swinging those 14-8 three bladed props sounded so real!
The landing was straight forward and easy, just lined her up and flew it on with about 30 percent throttle. Nothing to it.
and that`s how I got my wings! LOL
