Rare Bear Pylon Racing
Feb 28th, 2013 at 12:04pm

I posted this on our forum at NRCM hoping that I could drum up some interest.  Would be fun to add pylon racing to a funfly.

HK has a Rarebear Pylon racing startup kit for $89.95. I'm tempted to order one. It is unpainted and has everything to get it going minus the receiver plus has upgraded electronics over the stock version and includes a lipo. It's only $89.95. Might be fun.

They claim 120mph out of the box.  Any takers?  Grin

Hobbyking has a website dedicated to the rarebear class of pylon racing also worth taking a look at.

A few youtube videos of the Rare Bears in action.

Me and Jon were using MPX Dogfighters at the end of last season to do some Pylon style racing.  Fitted with an E-flite power 10 and 9x9 prop they are right around 100mph.  We were racing them around the end of our runway and it was quite a rush.  This year we are planning to make some removable poles and place them on the outside corner of each end of the runway to race around.

Here's a link to the video from last year:

These planes make excellent pylon racers as you can absolutly haul on the elevator and they just carve around the corner without any stall tendancies.

Cool! I have heard of the dogfighters too..  I'll check the video out.  We gotta get something going.  They look like fun and the price is right  Cheesy

Dogfighters are a little bigger it appears.

We officially have 3 of these on the way from Hobbyking.  We have a fourth club member who seems keen also.

These could be a lot of fun at Margaree for those who are going  Smiley
