ed's vmar twin otter
Aug 11th, 2012 at 8:38pm

My rainy saturday project. vmar twin otter I'm building...or rather assembling...for ed.

quite a pretty ARF, kit quality pretty fair, hardware other than the pushrods just so so.

had to repair some shipping damage before starting. motors and controllers both new so adding motor mounts, soldering connectors, etc take a lot of time as you know. the airframe assembly didn't take very long.

almost ready for electronics.

Nice looking plane, where do you plan to maiden it?
Are you able to put wheels on it or will it be "water only"?

maiden at our site.  wheels are included.  they won't go on until I have everything else ready.

we don't have any floats for it, but that would be a neat option.

maiden on ed's twin otter tuesday.  field was very wet and grass long, but it handled those conditions with ease.

and yes, ed was really at the field.  Grin

nice flying airplane!

video of the maiden flight.  photos and video made by rob fobrigger.  thanks for that rob!
