ASRCM Spring Fun Fly May 19th
Apr 26th, 2012 at 3:27pm

ASRCM is hosting a spring fun fly on May 19th in celebration of the club's new flying site. Rain dates will be may 20th and May 21st.

All Flyers are welcome.  Flying starts at 8am.  There will be no registration fee and a free barbecue lunch (sponsored by Geoff Davis, owner of MIGHTY SMALL CARS) will be provided at noon.

MAAC of course is required.

To get to our new site take highway 224 (at the flashing light just before/after the Provincial Wildlife Park), proceed about 2.5 kilometres to the Saint Andrews River Road on the left.  Proceed up the Saint Andrews River Road approximately  two kilometres to Lynch Road on the left.  (this is the first road off Saint Andrews River road.  Go to the end of Lynch (couple of hundred yards) until it turns into a farm road through the trees.  Follow this road about 100 yards to a large open field.  Turn right up over this field and you will then see our site on the hill to the right.

Flyers are reminded of the club's upcoming fun fly this weekend may 19.

We will have a number of nice prizes donated by John Hatt of Maritime Hobbies.  John has been very generous year after year for fun fly events throughout the province.  A BIG thank you to John!

Because of the long weekend we have two "rain date" days in case of bad weather.

Geoff Davis of Mighty Small Cars is supplying the food for the barbecue!  Many thanks to Geoff!

I'll be bringing a heap of helis to blaze around & speaking to the helimaniacs guys there should be a good turn out.

Gentlemen, I have just updated the web site with photos from the fun fly today.  Click on any photo on the site main page to access all photos from the event.

http://www.asrcm.ns.ca/index.html

I've also uploaded a video from the afternoon's eight plane stryker flight.  video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imZbsPqPpmU&feature=g-upl

another video highlighting the days flying should be ready later tonight.

some sample photos.

1 and 2. Colin with his gopro equipped trojan should result in some aerial video of our field.

3.  the hatts ready their HK, yes HK cessna.  Grin

4. Rick with his foamy

did anyone count the number of people there today?  I counted 34 cars in the parking area by mid morning.

Colin shot some great video of our field from his trojan with the gopro and also a bunch of photos which he has posted on the helimaniacs site.  A very interesting view of our field from his plane.

Thanks ASRCM for a terrific day ! Stryker time was most fun for me and thanks to Al I can watch it over and over ! Great warm-up for Margaree Jon and Joe, I came close a couple of times   Roll Eyes Grin It was a beautiful day, the site is a dandy, and it was great to meet up with everyone. I sure know all the faces even if I can't remember all the names,I've been told that doesn't get any easier, guess I'll have to get used to it Grin
Here's a link to some field photos from yesterday, they were taken later in the day after a lot of folks had left , post #269 at bottom of page http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?p=950577#post950577
Cheers!

Looks like you all had a great time. Everything of significance was recorded for posterity in a very professional manner by Al Eastman and Frank Macdonald.
Al's video of the Stryker encounter is the best video I have seen. Kudos to the Fliers who kept the models within visible range.
Frank's still shots are superb and show the ASRMC new field off in a spectacular manner.
Thanks Frank for drawing my attention to the Lumix LX3 which has served me well.
