Tribute 36 Nitro - going against the trend!
Jun 7th, 2011 at 1:59pm

Just for a change from electric I am working on a nitro powered Hangar 9 Tribute 36 that I hope to maiden this weekend or maybe some day next week. This model is a bit of an 'oldy' but the price was right for the ARF (less than $100) and I wanted a 40 size 3D plane that would be flyable when the wind comes up at the field.

I have to admit that when I took it out of the box I was very tempted to convert to electric but I resisted the temptation and stuck with it.

It will be (over) powered by a OS 46AX which from everything I have read will be perfect for this model for my purposes anyway.

If anyone here has had one of these before I would love to hear from you.

Cheers,

Rick

Rick, I think that's the one craig maybee has been flying off and on for a while.  You may be able to get him via email, I think he's just left on another heli maintenance stint halfway around the world.

flies great, no issues from what I've seen.

Thanks Al I will send Craig an email and see what he has to say.

One of the issues that I have read about the Tribute is that it is fragile in the frame at the rear of where the wing attaches. I am going to reinforce that with epoxy coating from the inside instead of trying to add structure to it.

This model comes with a beautifully constructed one-piece wing that would make a perfect airfoil for a scratch built aircraft. Unfortunately I think that the Tribute has been discontinued since I bought it a couple of months ago.
