We started Instructing early.....
Jan 10th, 2011 at 9:16am
This undated letter from George Lacey (likely around 1980) demonstrates a very early history of teaching guys to fly. Over the years we've gone through a lot of students, and A LOT of instructers..

George, of course, went on to become instrumental in founding MAST in Truro.

"243 Pleasant st.
Truro, N. S.

Mr. Doug Grace Pres.
Halifax, N. S.

Dear Doug:

This 1s just to say "THANK YOU" to all the
instructors and members of AS/ReM for all the help they
have given me in learning to fly a RCM alrcraft, especially
Jim Turner who seems to have a great deal of patience
when it comes to instructing a dummie like myself.
My airplane is still in one piece after many
hours of reconstruction and flies itself now, despite
a spectacular crash into an old hard apple tree due to
pilot error and a screaming dive to earth due to flying with
undercharged batteries.

I have had 79 flights with it now and from
what I can learn from reading and others in RCM for
a first year pilot that would have to be termed a very
successful year and I owe it all to AS/RCM. So again a
very special “THANK YOU" to all of you and I am looking
forward to being a member of AS/RCM in the years ahead.

If time permits would like you to
read this at your meeting."
