Today I was approached by our athletic director at HERH to see if we were interested in renting the gym this winter to play airplanes.   So far Wednesday and Thursday nights are still free, but things are booking up fast. I'm open to suggestions as to what works for the group.  I told the school that I would get back to them on Monday.

We will be flying indoors at the HERH gym in Milford tonight Oct 24th 7to 9pm.  All are welcome.  Remember to charge your batteries and bring glue.

Like last year, next week's indoor falls on Halloween night.  I'd like to get an idea on what everyone has planned.  Should we go ahead with business as usual  and have indoor or cancel? 

I can eat treats and fly at the same time, but I wanna do whats best for the group.

Hey guys.. I got some bad news and some good.. Maybe... This Thursday night is going to be the school dance at our school which was going to be in cafeteria is now going to be in the gym :( not good for us... However I did ask and booked for Wednesday night of this week... Plz respond back if this will work? 

Wednesday works great for me Shawm. Jordan has a basketball game Thursday night at his school and I would not be able to make it. Next week I will be away again for work and won't be able to make it. :'(

Hey guys...  I hope Santa was good and you all have something new to play with (and show off) lol... Our indoor has been a great success so far this year and I really enjoyed the very nice piece in the MAAC newsletter... Great Job Al... 

Now that I put a few warm fuzzies out there, here comes the bad news.  Over the Christmas break, our school had a water main break.  As a result of this, the gym area and surrounding classrooms suffered some water damage.  They are working hard to getting things back to normal, but asked everyone to stay off the gym floor till it has had time to dry properly.  Long story short.  No indoor flying this week.  We will resume on January 16th 2014.

My Fellow Indoor Aviators

As indicated in my earlier post, there was some flooding at HERH over the break that cancelled our January 9th indoor flying night.  As hoped, we were to resume flying on Jan 16th once the floors have dried.  Sadly this will not be the case as I was told that the HERH gym will be closed indefinitely to all activities (even sports) due to the damage of the floor caused by the water.  Of course my response was “I don’t want the floor, I want the air space”. Some found this funnier than others.   That being said, I am currently looking at a few options for flying sites and times that may suit our needs. I will post in a day or so of my findings and what options are available to us.

I am also open to suggestions or options from our membership that we could explore/discuss as it is much too early to end our indoor flying season.

Indoor flying update... Here's what I got so far... I've been in contact with a couple places for us for indoor flying... First I have been talking to the folks at Elmsdale Elementary who have Monday evenings available from 7 to 9 pm at the same cost as it was at HERH... This school is located near the Strides gym in Elmsdale... I would still need approval from the school admin before we move forward on this site, however looking good... Second is a gym that is located in my home community of Indian Brook...  This is located around 10 kms away from HERH and the days available for this site would be on Saturday mornings into early afternoon as it is used for wellness programs in the evenings... Please note that I would only be able to have this site available on a bi-weekly basis as I have other commitments... Some of us have flown at this site a couple years back during the Christmas break... 

Feedback would be greatly appreciated...:)

Great News

We have a new home for the remainder of the 2013-14 indoor flying season.  We have moved from HERH to the Elmsdale District Elementary School.  We will start tonight and every Monday night from now till the end of March.  Flying times will be the same as before 7pm to 9pm as well as cost for gym rental.  I have been told, not asked that we do not wear our outdoor footwear in the gym. :)

I got a call from the school and the gym will not be a viable for Monday March 3rd due to a school event. Also note that there will be no indoor during the march break which is March 10th.
