Title: Wirraway Conversion
Post by yorcram on Jun 22nd, 2013 at 8:04pm
The Misses got off to PEI this morning so I spent the afternoon cleaning the gutters, annoying the neighbours with my taste in music, and painting my Wirraway conversion.

The wirraway was essentially a T6 harvard but fabric covered fuselage. Larger rudder, guns and large air filter under the cowl.

I simulated the fabric by scalloping the sides of the body, fashioned gun hood and added the guns. For the air filter I added foam blocks and sanded to shape.

For a change I pulled out my cheap airbrush and painted.
I am now ready to try a bit of weathering and ad markings.

Looks very nice marc. who makes the t6?

That aussies sure had some fearsome names for some of their war planes. . I can imagine a wirraway trying to wirry away from a zero.

So you left the flying field to clean gutters. . we're worried about you.  lol

This is the Dynam T6.
The wirraways only brought down 1 zero from what I read. But they filled the gap until the spit8 came along.

Had to patch a leak in the roof, then cleaned gutters as they were completely blocked.
Attempted some other repairs and ended up with a nice mark on my forehead.  :-[  Decided it was time to play with planes  :)
