Thanks Geoff.  The weather is very tempting for sure.... thanks for the advice.

How were the field and roadway?  You mentioned previously that the road was ok but that the field and parking areas were still quite soggy?

Brian

I was up to the field again yesterday. Even though the weather is tempting us to go, you might want to give it a week or so. The farmer has been getting his fields ready with a coating of manure and the odour is not something I want to be in presently. He usually uses manure that has been through his methane extraction plant, but not this time. Should be fine in a short time.

What a great time to be in this hobby!

Hoping that everyone is aware of the recent changes to the former HEFA and ASRCM sites.... the clubs have joined to form the Shubenacadie Model Aviation Society (SMAS).  There is still a lot to work required with combining websites and the like but every step is one closer to that end goal!  And we don't want to lose any of the incredible history and archives present on either site.  Although the club is officially SMAS, the field is the "ASRCM field" which keeps some of the long history of the great club.

Executive for the new club are as follow (at least for 2024!) and hopefully some familiar faces - all a super group and keenly interested bunch!
- President - Brian Gray
- Vice President - Chris Hodgkinson
- Treasurer - Rhoady Hickey
- Secretary - Josh Mardling
- Directors at Large - Jon Eastman, Rick MacDonald, Blair Squires, Paul McKeil

While Geoff Davis is not on the executive, he is a major member of the team...!

Revisions are underway with MAAC and the club name is changed (same club ID as the former ASRCM).  We are sorting through some of the rules but everything appears to be straight ahead.

The club is registered with RJSC as a Society and the bank account is renamed and is open for action!

We are super excited to get started this year - kind of waiting for the wet conditions to disappear!  Geoff has been to the field and the road is passable but the field and parking area are still a little soggy.

A few useful links and additional background:
(1) We are happily accepting membership applications from SMAS.  The membership form is attached.
(2) Still lots to do, but Facebook is currently set-up at facebook.com/ShubMAS.
(3) Please reach out anytime through PM or by email SMAS2024@outlook.com

We are already looking forward to a BBQ, some improvements and fun!

Whilst not new to jets my experience is well over 15yrs old, I have owned Simjet and JetCat. My question is, there are a lot of other players in the marketplace now and I would welcome some honest feedback about them so I can make a decision as to what to buy. I am looking for something 1200  size. How about this one dynamrc.com/products/albatros-dva-v2-warbird-dy8960.

Any feedback appreciated.

Today I received a notice of the availability of the 2024 Aeronautical Information Manual.

It is a large document. Fortunately it is also available in smaller sections that may be downloaded individually.

There are some changes made for clarity. Of particular interest should be the changes to the RPA section. Notably, Control Line aircraft are particularly mentioned as NOT being classified as an RPA. This means that TC has no interest in them from a regulatory standpoint except to say they are not regulated. This clarification may have an impact on some clubs/associations/fields that have asserted a need to impose restrictions or limits on their use. There is not such a requirement from a TC perspective

The link to the page containing the full new free edition and the indiviually downloadable sections is

https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/publications/transport-canada-aeronautical-info

You might consider keeping this electronically or partly in printed form with your other materials on RPA rules and training materials.

Th website keeps wrapping the link.  Maybe cut and paste the whole link into your browser.
